From Alpes-Maritimes to New York City
Tout a commencé comme nombreux de notre génération le savent : un message sur une application de rencontre. Cependant, les circonstances étaient un peu différentes.
Christopher venait de terminer un week-end pour célébrer le mariage de son frère aîné aux États-Unis et retournait à Grasse pour commencer son stage de courte durée en parfumerie, après y avoir terminé ses études deux mois plus tôt. Sur le trajet en voiture vers l'aéroport, il reçut un message d'un inconnu, qui souhaitait le rencontrer, mais qui était perplexe quant à la distance qui les séparait – plus de 6 000 kilomètres. Après quelques échanges, Christopher et Pierre se sont donnés rendez-vous quelques jours plus tard dans le jardin de la ville.
Après avoir passé toute la première journée ensemble, ils ont continué à passer chaque jour côte à côte pendant les quatre mois suivants. Lorsque le moment est venu pour Christopher de retourner aux États-Unis, ils ont décidé de mener leur relation à distance, aussi longtemps que nécessaire, compte tenu de l'imprévisibilité de la carrière et du lieu de résidence de Christopher.

Qu'il s'agisse de voyages aux États-Unis, à Grasse, à Holzminden (ou à Berlin, Copenhague, Amsterdam, Barcelone... n'importe où pour éviter de passer du temps à Holzminden), ils planifiaient toujours leur prochain voyage pour se voir, et leur amour ne s'estompait jamais. Pierre était souvent la muse de Christopher, lui ayant créé de nombreux parfums sur mesure à chacune de leurs rencontres. Des succès, des échecs, mais tous créés avec amour.
Le 20 juillet 2024, Christopher a demandé Pierre en mariage dans le parc où ils se sont rencontrés, et le 28 septembre 2024, le couple s'est réuni à la mairie de Peymeinade, en France, pour se marier légalement lors d'une cérémonie intime, entourés de la famille et des amis de Pierre. Ainsi commença la longue procédure d'obtention de la carte verte.

Et voilà, la cérémonie du 16 mai 2026 ! Les deux côtés, français et américain, seront représentés pour une fête à l'image de l'amour qu'ils se portent. Alors que leur vie à distance touche à sa fin, cette célébration, au-delà du mariage, marque aussi la fin d'un nouveau chapitre sous le même toit, riche en expériences et en souvenirs, tandis qu'ils explorent New York ensemble. La première fois que Pierre sera un véritable expatrié (et avec tout le plaisir que cela implique), et la première fois que Christopher sera parfumeur de parfums fins à New York (ENFIN).

It began as anybody in our generation might be familiar with: a message on a dating app. Although, the circumstances were a bit different.
​
Christopher was just finishing a weekend celebrating his older brother's marriage in the United States and headed back to Grasse, to start his short-term perfumery internship after finishing education there just two months prior. On his car ride to the airport he received a message from a then stranger, expressing interest to meet but confused about the distance between the two- specifically, over 6000 kilometers. After some exchange, Christopher and Pierre committed to meeting a few days later in the garden in town.

After spending the entire first day together, the two continued to spend each day of the next four months by each-other's side. When the time came for Christopher to move back to the United States, they decided to navigate their relationship through long-distance, for however long it took, given the unpredictability of Christopher's career and location.

Whether it be travels to the USA, Grasse, Holzminden (or Berlin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Barcelona... really anywhere to avoid spending time in Holzminden), the two were always planning their next trip to see one another, never a day passing where the love for one another dimmed. Pierre was often Christopher's muse at work, having created him many bespoke perfumes each time they would see one another. Some hits, some misses, but all made with love.

On July 20, 2024, Christopher proposed to Pierre at the park where they first met, and on September 28, 2024, the couple gathered at the town hall in Peymeinade, France to be legally married in a small ceremony surrounded by Pierre's family and friends. Thus, the lengthy green-card process began.
​
And so, that leaves us with the the ceremony on May 16, 2026! The French and American sides will be represented for a party truly representative of the love the two have for one another. As the long distance phase of their lives comes to a close, it also serves as a celebration beyond marriage: a new chapter under one roof, for new experiences and memories to make as they navigate New York City together. Pierre's first time being a bonafide expat (and all the fun that comes with that), and Christopher's first opportunity to be a New York City fine fragrance perfumer (FINALLY).
